Active lines of research
01
Digital Twin of the Process and Plant
This line of work, “Development of the Digital Twin of Plant and Process”, focuses on creating digital replicas of Navantia’s facilities and production processes. Pilot projects will demonstrate their usefulness in management and production.
02
Traceability
The aim is to improve identification and tracking at the shipyard. Traceability technologies will be implemented in the General Warehouse and the Block Factory, including a smart pallet and integration with Navantia’s 5G private cloud.
03
Digital Worker
Research into technologies to assist assembly, maintenance and training. 7 pilots will use Extended Reality and sensors, addressing problems in Navantia production units.
04
Digital Twin of the Distributed Power System
Research into AI algorithms for managing energy on ships. It uses machine learning, sensors and edge computing for a collaborative model.
05
Inspection and Quality Control
Implementation of innovative techniques and technologies for inspection of shipbuilding processes, including visual inspection of welding and dimensional control. Integration of quality and statistical control.
06
Impact Test Digital Twin
Modelling and simulation of the MWSM machine to predict accelerations in crash tests on naval equipment. It seeks to avoid damage, oversizing and economic losses by informing the manufacturer in advance.
07
Robotization
Development of software simulation to design robotic manufacturing cells and lines, optimizing their performance, safety and space. Feasibility analysis to automate processes in shipbuilding.
08
Digital Twin of Ship Stability, Fire and Smoke Spread, Damage Stability and Self-Reconfigurable Systems.
Creating digital twins to assist military vessel crews.
